Wad Manager 1.9 is a replacement for the Windows command-line utility wadm.exe. It is more powerful and less buggy than its predecessor, and can be used instead of wadm to install Doom-format WAD files on vanilla DOOM, DOOM II: Hell on Earth, Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Hexen: Beyond Heretic, and Strife: Quest for the Sigil (without needing to convert them first). Wad Manager 1.9 has a simple user interface with tabs across the top for File Management, Conversion, Graphics Tools, and Uninstall. The File Management tab is used to work with existing WAD files. It allows the user to create new folders; open the existing file; extract game information or game art into their own folders; pick what game they want to work with (Doom, Doom II: Hell on Earth, Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, or Hexen); and pick which game version (Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, Heretic v1.0, Heretic v1.4(v2.5), or Hexen) they wish to work with. The Conversion tab allows the user to convert WAD files between various formats (DOOM 4's . DMP, Ultimate Doom .WAD, Doom 1's .DMP, Heretic v1.4(v2.5) .WAD and Hexen: Beyond Heretic .WAD). Togglable options for these conversions include converting to and from the original WAD format (DOOM, DOOM II: Hell on Earth, Hexen: Beyond Heretic), converting to and from the current version of the game (Ultimate Doom and Hexen: Beyond Heretic), and selecting which type of graphics files to extract from files (sprite sheets or text).
